How to check laptop's battery health on Windows 10

If you’re interested in getting more technical info about your battery usage and estimated capacity, you can use the method that’s built into Windows 10 to generate a battery report.

  1. Right-click the Start button.
  2. Select Windows PowerShell (Admin)
  3. When the blue PowerShell window appears, type or paste powercfg /batteryreport /output "C:\battery-report.html" into it.
  4. Press Enter.
  5. PowerShell will generate a battery report and save it to your computer.
  6. To access it, type This PC into the Windows search bar.
  7. Left-click the This PC application that appears.
  8. Under the "Devices and drives" header, click on the C drive.
  9. Find the battery-report.html file and click on it.

  1. Select Search on the taskbar, type Command prompt, press and hold (or right-click) Command prompt, and then select Run as administrator > Yes.

  2. At the command prompt, type powercfg /batteryreport, then press Enter.

    The battery report will be an HTML file that’s stored in a folder on your PC. The file location will be shown in the Command Prompt window.

  3. Open File Explorer, go to the folder that the report was saved to, and then double-click the battery report (HTML file) to open it in your web browser.
